About the author

My name is John Caldwell. Some of you may remember me from my old web site, terminaltown.com.

About a year after I started terminaltown, I wrote a rather shallow (seriously lacking in depth) article about why it is not a good idea to use cheap electrical connectors on your kit plane. The final sentence in the article was: "If you don't know why you shouldn't use cheap automotive vinyl connectors on your plane, please don't fly over my house."

That one line drew a host of negative e-mails from my audience. The e-mail that really struck me the most was one that said the following: "I visited your site looking for answers about crimp electrical connectors on my plane and all I got was smart-ass remarks."

I called the gentleman that sent that e-mail and we had an in-depth discussion about what information he needed. That conversation led to my writing a great many articles that received a very positive reaction. It seemed that the articles were helpful to many people.

As for the part that makes me a "smart ass know it all," this is not quite an accurate description. The older I get, the more I realize how much I don't know. At this rate, my head should be empty in a couple of years. But, on the positive side, I have been using, selling, and designing systems that require good electrical connections and teaching about making great electrical connections for more than 30 years. I don't know if this makes me an expert or not. Watch the free How-To video on this site and decide for yourself.

Thanks for stopping by,

John Caldwell
